Colorado, CO

Breathtaking sunsets, pristine forests, glaciated valleys, snow-crested mountains - who could help but fall in love with Colorado! This magnificent state offers the greatest skiing on the planet, along with snowmobiling, sleigh riding, dog-sledding, museums, art galleries, concerts, festivals, and much more. With 54 peaks rising to above 14,000 feet, you'll find white water rafting that is unparalleled in the world.

This state is filled with ghosts - from the remnants of its earliest inhabitants (dinosaurs) to the Anasazi to the miners hoping to strike the golden Mother Lode. The first to seek gold was Francisco Vasquez de Coronado in 1541, but, like all his other expeditions, this one ended in failure. It wasn't until 1858 that gold was finally discovered. As with Coronado, most prospectors failed. Those who recognized the territory's other assets prospered.

Many of these early miners became politicians and businessmen. They were responsible for making Denver an important city, for founding universities, for bringing the railroad. From the time the United States first acquired parts of what was to become Colorado in 1803, to the establishment of the Colorado territory in 1861, to its becoming the 38th state in the Union in 1876, to the present day, this land has fascinated and enraptured people.

Come, find your own "Rocky Mountain High."
