Arkansas, AR

Bald eagles love Arkansas, "The Natural State," and you will, too. Will you return every year as they do? You'll certainly want to. This state's six geographical regions are chock-full of outdoor beauty, colorful history, and diverse attractions. Shoot the rapids or lazily float down one of the many rivers, climb rocks or mine for diamonds, join in the mountain music or sing the delta blues. If you can imagine it, you?ll find it here!

But Arkansas' surface is not all there is to explore. Go underground and marvel at the wondrous formations Mother Nature has created: subterranean lakes and streams, mazes, crystals, fossils, flowstone, helictites, stalagmites, stalactites, and more. Eight of the nearly 2,000 documented caverns are privately-owned and open to the public. The US Forest Service operates Blanchard Springs Caverns near Mountain View.

The rivers and lakes are full of trout, bass, walleye, and other fish. White-tailed deer, wild turkey and small game populate the woodlands. And birds fill the skies - 313 different species are documented residents, and others are occasional-to-rare visitors. Besides the bald eagles, winter brings other raptors, as well as loons, grebes, ducks, geese, and gulls.

So join the birds and come on down. You'll be glad you did!
